COLLABORATE

Project Otro is a collaborative creative space that will be equal parts studio, gallery, art residency and social gathering space. While it’s uses will be varied depending on what creative opportunities coalesce at an given time, the unifying theme of any activity happening here will be the exploration of both personal and social wellness through a vision that celebrates our varied and unique perspectives and backgrounds, towards the hope of recognizing that we are actually all much more similar than we are different…the exploration and deconstruction of otherness.

STAY

Built in 1853 as the Mexican government’s customs house, Quinta Bermudez has a longstanding historical legacy as community center and gathering space for the residents of Mesilla. It’s varied uses and the multiple generations that have called it home, either as a Mexican territory or after it’s New Mexico statehood, give it a history and sense of place that transcends not only current ownership but defined borders. It is the perfect location within this culturally rich borderplex area for the contemplation of the concept of “other” and the greater truth that we are all inextricably connected. I have a strong sense of stewardship with this space to share it with any and all who want to come and stay. When I’m home, my door is almost always open to the public, and when I’m away the house is nearly always available to rent.
